It's pretty much agreed upon that the definitive Thor run is Walter Simonson's, which ran from Thor #337–382 (November 1983–August 1987).It was made available in the 5-volume Thor Visionaries: Walt Simonson trade paperbacks in the early 2000s, collected in an Omnibus in 2011 with retouches and recoloring, and is now being reissued in a new set of trade paperbacks. Thor: Ragnarok might be Marvel Studios' most comic book-y film to date. Besides borrowing elements from Jack Kirby's original take on Thor, and the recent "Planet Hulk" storyline, the Taika Waititi-directed film is heavily inspired by the Thor comics written and drawn by legend Walt Simonson.

I think I may have enjoyed only Alan Moore's tenure on Swamp Thing for DC more than this, though I'd be hard pressed to choose.
